Birthdays, Bells and Granny Squares

Happy Birthday Dad. Last week we gathered together to wish my dad a happy birthday. Not room for 76 candles on the cake but a lovely family meal to celebrate.

On Friday morning we got up at 8.12 am to ring bells to herald the start of the Olympic games.

Jenny wasn't very happy about being woken up though!

Rosie and I have been learning a new crocheted Granny square from this book in the shop

And Rosie crocheted a Dumbledore all by herself.
And at last a scenic shot in the sunshine. Today we went up to Hownsgill, near Consett in Co Durham on the C2C cycle route. The views over the Durham cuntryside were magnificent.

Craster again

All those pictures of Craster remind me of the lovely 2 day course with Janet Clare when we made a free motion machine embroidery picture. I can't believe that was 2 years ago. But when you sew the sea side you can make the sun shine.

Happy quilting xx

Crochet night and Kippers

Last week Ready Steady Knit went out and about. With my loyal band of helpers I packed up a basket of goodies and went to join the ladies of The Hearth Craft group at Horsley for a crochet night. A great night we had too - sharing skills, drinking tea and eating cake.
But I have been out and about this week too. On a rare day off we went to Howick Hall on the beautiful Northumberland coast for a walk in the gardens.
With all the wet weather , the bog garden was in full bloom
 But not appreciated by everyone!
Then we went to the nearby fishing village of Craster which is very picturesque
Where we bought some kippers from the world famous smokery to take home for tea.

Happy Quilting and Happy Hooking too.
