All over the world and parts of Gateshead.

"All over the world and parts of Gateshead" is a local saying but this truly describes Jennie Rayment's itinerary for this year. Her travels are taking her from St Aubin in Jersey to Albuquerque New Mexico and on Saturday brought her to the Fat Quarters at Blackhall Mill in Gateshead.

Her book blurb describes Jennie as " international tutor and author - totally obsessed with twiddling, fiddling, nipping, tucking, manipulating and manoeuvring! Shortish, skinnyish, somewhat wacky and British to Boot! Her ingeniously original ideas are the product of her fertile imagination and skillful fingers" And she certainly lived up to the description. Her Saturday night soiree for the ladies of the Fat Quarters was fabulously entertaining. While demonstrating her many sewing skills with beautiful examples of her work, she kept us endlessly entertained with tales of her travels,. Her handy hints included how to cook a meal in a kettle in your hotel bedroom.-" Rinse the hotel kettle out very well after use. I hate the thought of the next guest pouring out their morning cuppa and finding the odd pea or two floating around."

And of course her techniques are not just for use on quilts and wall hangings but can be used to make garments too - again ably demonstrated.

Check out her website here and her new venture an online TV channel for patchwork , quilting and textile are here. Her work was fabulous as these pictures show. This is a black and white version of the sudoku quilt.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of her book Tinkering with Texture in the raffle, which she signed for me.

I have done a little sewing this week, Rabbit no 1 is now on the quilt

And the birthday girl got her monkey gear.

Happy quilting xx
